Level 1 Construction Qualification (Award, Certificate or Diploma)

This Level 1 Construction qualification is available as an Award, Certificate or Diploma, depending on the learner’s pace and achievement. Most learners complete the Certificate within one academic year, while those with excellent attendance and engagement may progress to achieve the Diploma.

The course is designed to develop essential practical hand-skills across a range of construction trades. It is ideal for learners looking to build DIY skills or as a foundation before progressing to further study in construction. All units are practical and focus on completing common industry tasks safely and effectively.

Key areas of study include:

• Bricklaying and blockwork, including half-brick, one-brick and cavity wall construction

• Carpentry and joinery skills such as fitting skirting, architraves, locks and hatch linings

• Painting and decorating techniques, including wallpapering, decorative finishes and painting doors

• Health and safety within the construction industry.

 

Learners also gain valuable experience by working on live projects, helping to improve facilities at Keats Engineering and Education and Pontefract Collieries.
